PJ Curly

It was June 2017 when PJ Curly acquired her first NFT. Sipping her third Piña Colada of the afternoon, on a strange beach somewhere in Indonesia, PJ and her partner lucked upon a project, a project hidden deep in the sub-threads of crypto Reddit. ‘The Cryptopunks’ – a collection of 10,000 unique collectible characters with proof of ownership stored on the Ethereum blockchain. These colourful little faces, so simple, but so full of character and promise, instantly resonated with them both. Within the hour, they had cherry picked out a handful each (now stored safely in their ETH wallets) and had returned to the beach just in time for sunset. PJ spent much of her early 20’s studying and working in the digital space in Sydney, Australia, and by 2017 she had built a strong understanding of blockchain technology and spent countless hours creating digital work. It was during this time that she started to follow many creators on social media and platforms such as Behance. The art she was drawn to was filled with colour and often featured whimsical realities built around strong female leads. From here, she spent the next few years moving in and out of different industries, but digital art stayed as a constant in her life. In early 2021, as the Crypto Winter began to thaw and the NFT art scene started to bloom, PJ found herself in unique position. She had a means, a strong love for good digital art, and a platform she could use to support and connect with many of the artists she had admired and been inspired by for many years. She started to buy art and quite frankly.. hasn’t really stopped.
